Question To paint or not to paint (CF hood)

I'm thinking about getting a Vis EVO style CF hood for my OZ. The only problem is, I don't know if I should paint it or not. I'm leaning towards painting it because I don't want to stand out too much, but I heard because the paint adds weight, it partially negates the lightness of the CF hood. What are your opinions on this, guys???

Thanks

Daniel

Paint adds weight? While that's true, weight the steel hood and then weight the CF hood. A few ounces of paint will not negate the hood.

The only real question is this - do you want to look fast or not? If you want a sleeper, paint the hood. If you're getting a CF hood because it's cool/lightweight, then show it off.

even if he does paint it, it still wont look sleeper since its an evo style hood

Depends on your car color. If its black of thunder gray leave it. If its a lighter color paint it. I saw a honda civic in an Import Tuner that paint its carbon fiber hood and it looked really cool. Looked stock straight on but when the sun caught it, it gave a slightly different hue. I'll see if I can find a pic.

The fitment is bad? I thought the Vis one was pretty good (esp. when compared to Accolade????)?

I have a silver car, and thought it would look pretty nice, considering an RSX I saw with an EVO style hood left it unpainted and looked pretty hot.

Just saw the one with the sides painted.... GAWDDAM that's cool looking. I'll think about it, if anyone could photoshop that pic of the orange car and make it silver, that would be great!!!!

Thanks guys

Daniel

I've heard this question many times and I think it's stupid to paint CF anything. You pay a lot of $$$ for it then paint over it? Keep your current hood if you just wanna paint the CF one.
