Painting Turbo Housing

I'll be getting my used RRM Stage 1 kit in a little while so now I can offically start annoying everyone with all kinds of questions. The turbo housing I'm getting looks like it's a little rusty (what, iron rusts, no way ). What I was wondering is can you safely paint the turbo housing with exhaust temperature paint (1600 degree type) without causing damage to the turbo?

I don't see why the paint on the outside would harm the insides... should work fine.

And make sure you cover all openings! Don't want to fill the oil feed hole with paint or something...

But I thought painting the inside would help with oil flow?

I plan on being pretty meticulous with protecting the turbo before painting. Also, that really sucks about your front lip. At least you did it to yourself, and not some jacka$$ in a parking lot that drives away after doing it when no one is around to get a plate number.

If you want the best take the parts out to be thermal coated... you could probably get a local place to do the header/up+down pipe/turbo for about 200bucks. The more you do at once the cheaper it is. Just mask off where you don't want coated. They will remove your tape and put their "special tape" on.

If i had to do it all over again that's what i'd do.

Well, the funny thing is a very influential coating company is local. Anyone hear of SwainTech? That's right, they are local, maybe 20 minute drive from my house. Once the kit gets here I might swing by with the up/down/turbo setup and see what their estimate is. If it's too much, then I'll just paint it. I wasn't going to go with any fancy colors, just something simple like black, silver, or maybe a dark gray to try and match the IC pipes and valve cover.

I was pretty shocked when I heard about them from my friend, and then to find out that EVO guys out in CA have heard of them blew my mind. Something good actually came out of this crappy area other than Kodak, Xerox, and Bausch & Lomb.

If they can coat a piston set for under $200 with their gold treatment, I'm sure they can coat and up/down/turbo housing for less because the coating doesn't need to be as intense.
