installing strut bar

i have a question about installing a strut tower brace. when installing the bar should you jack up the car some , to relieve tension off the suspension, or simply install it where it stands? so what do you guys think? how did everyone else go about this?

for the rrm strut bar you don't have to jack up the car just unscrew, slap it on, and screw back. but for the rmr bar you have to jack it up. run a search for more details

well the strut bar is a custom welded one and it is for a friends infiniti g20t. i guess i was thinking that the installation process would be a little more similar for all applications. thatnks for the help, still not quite sure what to do though.

you could probably jack it up since it wont do any harm, whereas if you don't jack it up you MIGHT run into probs.

Seems like it'd be better to err on the side of caution. Jack it up.

*edited because I'm a misreading jackass*

Have you tried installing the strut bar yet? Not too many different ways to put it on

no, not yet. like i said though it's a custom job and the measurements were taken with the car at normal ride height. guess we'll try jacking it up and if problems arise try it not jacked.

It shouldn't change the measurements at all. It just makes it to where the bar sometimes "sits" a little lower, if you can dig it.

I think that if you jack it up whether it fits or not, it'll probably end up a bit lower, and probably have less chance of rubbing the hood and such.
