Drum removal.

I did a search, and didn't really come up with much other than drum to disc converstions threads that didn't really have much of a direction... Maybe my searching skills isn't up to par. Regaurdless, can someone help me? When it comes to engine tuning I can answer practically everything, but for suspension and braking, it's all grey to me... ANYWAYS.

How do you remove your drum brakes? (and front caps as well if you can tell me) Does anyone have a pdf mechanic manual that I can have?

I kinda have an idea on how to do it.. But I don't want to be driving one day and then notice I can't stop.

Thanks in advance.

Usually it's pretty easy, but I've never removed my Lancer brakes. So I don't know if there's anything tricky.

Getting ahold of a PDF manual may be a good bet. Usually you can find someone to send you a copy.

www.alldatadiy.com offers factory shop manuals on a subsription basis. All the info is pulled from the factory manual, and though it's not quite laid out as well, all the info is there. It's $24.95 for the first subscription and then any additional vehicles or renewals are $14.95 per year, per vehicle.

Anyway, I have the Mirage rear drum removal diagram which, for all intents and purposes, is identical to the Lancer.

slap your drum with a big hammer on the side and wiggle it if it is still really tight .. you might have a to adjust the brake out to take pressure off of the drum..then it should slide off.. oh yeah have your e-brake off when doing this
