RPW has a kit that converts the rear to disc, but it runs around $1200 if I recall and can mess with your brake bias a bit meaning you may not stop as quickly, do some searches and you can find all the info you seek.

I would be safe to assume that all cars past 1940 have discs in the front.

Yeah it was the 70s that really started giving front drums the boot. That was listed as a major feature on my dad's 69 Mustang.

And yes, many people have thought about the rear disc conversion, but most people decide that it's too expensive and doesn't help performance much. RPW is the only way as far as I know, and there were some theories about getting the parts from a Puerto Rican Lancer that has rear discs, but nobody did that yet. This is all coming from threads on this I have read, but I'm too lazy to run a search for them right now.

It shouldn't make you stop slower. It will probably make your rear wheels lock more easily and may cause the rear end to get squirrely under hard braking.

There is a write up on the Mirage forums somewhere and if I had the link on my desktop i'd give it to everyone, but I have it on the laptop and it's down now.
