Strut Bar Question
Strut Bar Question
Just looking to buy front a back. Do all work the same, or one specific brand?
Also, Does the OZ, LS, and ES all fit the same car? I've also heard that the Evo 8 will fit on the regular Lancer.
Thanks guys

EVO bars do not fit. different mounts. Yes, es, oz, ls are the same. No. Not all bars are equal. RDD has a great deal on these forums for all the bars. RRM makes quality great looking bars. If you want better handling get a upgraded rear sway bar with autox perches from RRM
as stated in the other thread exactly like this... strut bars just stiffen the chassis. The front struts are so close to the firewall they are allready quite stiff.
Sway/perches is a better overall mod especially for a es.

Yes, they all work the same. By definition, it's just a metal brace to stiffen the car.
Brand - as long as you get a quality one, it doesn't matter. Just don't go cheap. Here's why:
Cheap eBay on the top, RRM on the bottom

OZ, LS and ES all fit. Evo will NOT unless you modify it (still not worth the trouble, if you ask me).

The ebay ones will do fine in preventing compression and stretching as well as front to back bending assuming you align it the way the old man did. Not too shabby in my opinion for a cheap bar. The ones that don't use threaded sections will work better in all planes of motion though. Triangulated ones work even better.
No one makes a front sway bar. I think you're confused on the names. Front and rear strut bars are going to give you very little gain.
But the Progress rear sway bar from RRM and their perches as well. You'll be happy you did.
Yes. confused the names ^^'
I am not much of a performance driver; however, my car has a bit of an over steer that I would like to correct as such would the sway/perches be a useful upgrade?

An upgraded rear sway bar will give you more oversteer. I have no idea why you have oversteer at the moment, you should have understeer unless your alignment is off or something else has been changed.
How difficult are they to install - I live in an apartment complex that "frowns" upon working on your car so I usually don't want to spend too much time doing it. However, if we are talking a one hour job I might be able to convince someone to let me use their garage for that long.
ambystom01 - Someone side-swiped me, odds are it was just enough to knock things slightly out of alignment. I had my alignment redone about 2000 miles ago so it shouldn't be that off that fast short of hitting a speed bump at 70mph.

Strut bars are like a 10 min install, it's literally unbolt two bolts, put bar in place and replace bolts. A rear sway bar takes about 30 min if you know what you're doing. Do you have any other suspension mods (including tires and rims) that might explain the oversteering?
