shocks necessary?
shocks necessary?
i was wondering if it is necessary to buy shocks in order to accompany springs. I wanted to get the ralliart shocks and the eibach springs. but would the eibach springs alone be sufficent enough? I read the other posts on the tein s tech ones and progress ones, but they didn't answer my question entirely. i know a lot of people just put the springs on, in fact i haven't heard anyone with the shocks yet, so let me know what is the best approach to this.
If you drop 2" or less, they say you don't need new struts, but if it were me, I'd change my struts with any kind of drop. Hell, I'm tempted to change my struts even though I'm not lowering my car.
are you going for performance or looks? If you're going for looks, just get the springs and then upgrade the shocks when you blow the stock ones. If you want performance, you're better off upgrading the shocks as well, because shocks do more for your handling than springs do. Springs simply lower the CG, while shocks stiffen the ride.

the shock absorb and control the stored energy of a compressed spring. the spring must be controlled in order to keep tire at optimum contact w/ the road all times. so to improve handeling, upgrade the shock w/ spring is strongly recommended. stock shock is design to fit stock springs. if u have aftermarket springs w/ higher spring rate. a stock shock will not be able to control the compressed energy and will end up a bouncy ride, poor tire contact and compromised handeling.
and its also a good idea to have bigger and lighter weight wheels to reduce ur unsprung weight...
