Well... Mine are 17x7 and it is lowered only in the front. I think it'll probably rub. Mine rub a little when turning but it's just on the top, not the sides. I think that if you go wider, they will rub the sides as well.

Those you mention are higher than mine, and with the wheel being bigger in width, I think you'll mess up the wheel at the first pothole you find because of the cone shape they take when mounted on a wider wheel.

For example:


Notice how the tire is shaped like a cone? If you take a deep enough pothole, protection from the tire won't matter, and you'd have less contact area from the tire to the street.



Here, it shows the size I have now (not my wheels though). Look at how the width of the tire goes along side the width of the wheel. I've taken a couple of deep potholes and there's no scratch on my rims. Also, if you use a bigger width on the wheel, the tire deforms a lot more when cornering fast, making the rim be closer to scratching the pavement.

In conclusion, to each its own. I've been with this wheel/tire combo for a year now and it's been the wisest choice I've made, compared to my previous choices.

 

Depends on the wheel also. I had 18x7.5 with a 215-35 tire. I ran over potholes all the time and my wheels never got hurt.

Depending on the way the wheel is designed (more spokes probably stronger) or if its forged you wont have to worry as much.

 

You're right, but you're talking about a 215 on a 7.5 wide wheel, which would be the proper tire width. If you go 205 on a 7.5 wheel, you're bound to hit the road with the wheel at any given moment, putting the wheels at risk.

Hi I'm new here on the forum,! So I just got confused with the offset! I'm planning on putting 17x7.5 with 215/40-17 , I know on the stock height it'll b fine but I'm also planning on lowering the car(with megan coilovers) ,but not my much, just enough to eliminate the fender gap of all 4 wheels! So I just need to know which offset would be safe?

Do you know how wide of a tire I can go without rubbing?... I don't know what will fit on the rim or on the car. they are the stock OZ rims. And it is an 03 OZ rally. thanks

 

I currently have 18x8 +40 offset wheels and I do not have any rubbing issues. I am thinking about adding some wheel spacers for that "fat tire" look.

i need help with some new rim offset n widths... i want to get some rota p-45's in 18's but with a offset to give it that fat look, and how wide can i go.. i want my 02 OZ to look something like this..



this one said it has +12 to +15 offset


i dont mind stretch'n the tire alil to have a good fit under the fender. also would roll the fender to get a better fit, but i need help with offset for the 02 OZ and also the width of the rim it self..

7.5 is enough to fit under the fender, but what about 8 or 8.5 or even a 9 wide rim.. prob more towards the 8 or 8.5, but what offset to clear the suspension..

 

i did some research and i dont kno if this would work, but the offset calculator says different, but idk..

would a rota p-45f 18x8.5 with a +25 offset work, with stretched tires..

another thing i 4got to ask is would the offset work on the front and back?

 

will a 17x9 with a +12 offset fit my 02 OZ? offset calculator says i got 2.8 inches out from stock OZ rims and 4mm less clearance on the inside... i just did some research and found out that the OZ rims r 15x6, not 15x7.. ****.

 

Will a 17x8 +25 fit on a OZ? eg, tire stretch n fender rolled. Help asap, about to buy some xxr 522's with a +25 offset on 17x8 rim.

 

Not sure how soon a reply will be tossed on here, but what about low(er) offsets? I'd like a 16x7 +25 if it'll bolt on. Not huge tires. 205/45 most likely, and Tein S Tech springs is all. What work would I look at? I can't imagine I'd really need much. Just camber likely.
