Tein SuperStreets in the winter...
I was looking at getting a set of Tein Super Streets Coilovers for my 06 Oz Rally this summer, but I live in Canada and had heard that it was a bad idea to use coilovers in the winter because they could apparently seize up. I was just wondering if anyone that has to deal with winter conditions has had any experience with this. I just really need some clarification as to whether or not its bad for them.
Thanks

I dunno if its bad for them or not. I dont why it would be. Issue would be that you sit lower and susp is tighter. Which makes it easier to spin out/lose control. You can allways soften them up and raise the car up in the winter to solve that. Im getting Ksport pros this week and I plan to run them in the winter.

Yeah I currently run the Tein Flex coilovers on my evo, and have driven on them throughout this entire winter. The only problem that I've had with them during the winter was when some bolts became a little loose. I think that the cause was parlty because of some stress from some drifting here and there and contracting of metal. So, if you ever notice any type of clicking noise, just remember to go and retighten all of the bolts. Other than that, no problems whatsoever. Also, i just raise the car up in the winter to a little bit less than stock height, and lower it in the summer about an inch and a half. I've been clearing everything fine. good luck!
i have the tien ss coilovers just shy of a year so far in the heart of the winter i havent had any peoblems... i live in MA and we only had a couple of snow showers (wouldnt call then snow storms) and i havent had any problems... just skidding issues because of bald tires, but suspention is great, love em... havent had any bolt problems like pkevo8 cuz i dont drift
thanks for the info, thats gonna make me reconsider whether or not I store my car next winter, as it appears if they won't seize, that it could save me alot of money. Thanks for all the input!

I'm in Canada as well and quite interested in this thread as well. I heard it was bad because the salt would eat up the coilovers. I know one person that has coilovers and he just puts stock springs/shocks in the winter...

Sadly enough you're probably right. I need to wait for the snow to disappear, my brother in law to get back from the rigs and I have to buy the rear upper strut mounts.
Great idea with the WD-40! This thread also put any worries away for me. I'll be moving to England next year, so I'm glad this won't be an issue. It's good to hear so many of you are running your cars year round...
