Brian, you adjust the dampening on the top of the shocks with the allen key that should have come with the kit (mine had a green knob on one end). There are 16 different settings. First, Turn then clockwise to the right until it stops. This is the hardest setting. Then, you can turn the wrench counter-clockwise, counting the clicks (each click is a different level). If you have a considerable drop (low ride height), you shouldn't go past about 10 clicks. For street driving, I'm deciding between 8 and 10 clicks, and will be using much stiffer settings for races. Of course, to do this, you need to Access the top of the shocks . Then, pull the rubber caps off of the top screw.

If you have any other questions, please see my Tein suspension review and my Suspension install how-to
Good luck, and I hope you like them!

i used to keep my settings at 16 (hardest) but i recently turned it down to about 12 or 13 and it feels much better. very much less harsh and not bouncy. remember dont force it to turn. you will break something.

Smoktout, do you still find the suspension to be a little bouncier than stock? Even at level 7, I feel a big difference from the stock setup. But it's still very road worthy, and will really kick @$$ at the races!!!

Brian, maybe you should keep in mind that these shocks will never be as soft as your stock ones. BTW, do you have the manual that came with the kit? It should have a little bit to say about ride height and dampening. I believe they recommended to start with the ride height set so that 30mm of the thread was showing, and the dampening at level 10. But I noticed that at that ride height, the front control arms were slightly inverted, so I put it at 38mm.

No, the manual says that if you go past the 16th click, you will risk blowing the shock. I took that as meaning the setting would be way too soft for the shock to handle the stress and compression, causing it to bottom out. All the clicks to is loosen the dampening, so if you go past the 16 clicks, you could damage the shock. If you have it set to a low ride height, I wouldn't go past level 6 (10 clicks). Smoktout, do you concur?

not sure about the left side/right side thing, but the rest of it seems like you got it. And if you want to go racing, you can always adjust it to a harder setting for better traction (depending on road conditions)

yes the ride is still bouncier than stock as with any aftermarket part is always going to sacrifice comfort for performance. also, i think i read something about there being 24 clicks but they only want you to use 16. i think that's in the PDF on tein.com. my drop isn't drastic, actually the front is probably 1.8 in lower and the back looks almost stock ride, maybe .5 in lower. i think when you go even lower you might want to actaully make the suspension tighter. also something i have noticed, if you are using the stock strut top and rubber spring seat, if you go to low the spring will not be held in position if the shocks decompress(get at their longest position). if im not makin sense or you'd like me to elaborate let me know. righty tighty lefty loosy applies here. go right for harder go left for softer.

Thanks Smoktout, that reminds me of one more thing. I strongly cuggest getting at least the front camber plates for this setup, as we found the front camber to be way off and hard to adjust after installing the Tein set. The rears can do without, but even after I got my camber set right, I am thinking about getting front plates for it.

when you get the camber plates, the ride height will change and you may have to even get helper springs, which i am trying to get. the helper spring will keep the spring in place when the shock is decompressed and keep the ride height near where it would be with the stock suspension components (spring seat, strut top)

here is jeff from ILP installing the rear pillowball mount.

EDIT: see that gap between the bottom of the pillowball mount n the top of the spring? that's why you may need the helper spring

Dang, maybe I'll stick with my current camber adjustments and forget the camber plates. If I do go with the camber plates, I'll have to talk to you some more. I don't want my springs coming off the spring seats.
