Comaptibility question for control arms
Comaptibility question for control arms
So I was on sportcompactonly.com looking for poly bushings when lo and behold, I found some energy suspension bushings for my control arms. Said they were compatible with my 02 oz rally and an evo 8. Thought that was kinda funny right there but ordered them anyway. Got them today and guess what? They don't fit. So I was curious because I could just get the right ones for my car or even possibly make my own, but found out that the evo control arm is better than whats on our cars(of course). So I was ever so curious about whether it was possible the put an evo control arm onto an 02 oz rally. Front control arms btw.
Pictures of both arms would be great to answer your question.
My gut feeling says it will work
The rear setup is different though. If you change the rear arms for Evo ones, you'll need to modify your struts to accomodate for the new arm.

Every nice link! but I'm still curious about the rears...I would like to use the entire Evo susp and rear control arms if possible. But last time I looked the OZ sway bar attached to our arm, while the Evo's didn't. That'd create a problem.
Where the sway bar attaches would be the least of your problems. The rear Evo strut tower mount is approximately 10-12 inches higher up from where the Lancer's is located. As a result, Evo rear struts are 10-12 inches longer than that of a Lancer. Also, the Evo rear strut is a mount on arm style while the Lancer is a mount in arm style strut. The rear suspension is totally and completely different where as the front is 99.9% identical.
So basically your saying that it would probably be fine to swap out the fronts cause right now thats all I basically want to do, but I might have to live with some issues. I don't want to waste the bushing kit. I'm tired of dealing with sportcompactonly.com. Their customer service is the worst I've dealt with. I've already called 4 times in the last week about returning and have yet to get a call back about it. It took enough of my time calling and writing emails just to get it here and find out that it didn't fit.

^Yes, you can use Evo front struts fine...in fact, that's what I've got and enjoy the stiffer setup. But intend to get OZ lowering springs to help with the stock wheel gap.
^^Thanks for the info, and I was pretty sure it wouldn't have work but it helps to get outside opinions!
