Strut Tower Bars...

Let me start by saying I know the purpose of a strut tower bar. However, I do have a question regarding them. So, please excuse the newbie nature of this question, buuuuuutttt.....

What exactly is the advantage of having an adjustable strut tower bar vs. a fixed length strut tower bar? Aside from being able to fit it to multiple different cars.

I don't think there is any advantage other than less of a chance of fitment issues.

No advange whatsoever. As Nick said, it just helps it fit more easily.
Personally, I tend to avoid adjustable ones. The adjustment point is just another weak point in the system. I prefer something beefy and solid.

This was the bar I used on my 2002 Lancer... \/

oh crap i didn't even think about that. i was thinking about the new k&n intake cause it looks like a nice design and has the heat shied but now thinking about it i don't know if it will fit with the heat shield and the strut bar. prolly gonna wait for the RRM V2 intake to come out anyway as it should be a very similar design to the K&N and i would hope they would design it to work with their strut bar.

*crickets chirping*

No one does. Megan Racing has a FSB in production, but no one else is making Lancer parts. RRM has theirs, Works hasn't said a word, and no one else is really doing much with the 2008 platform....

If you own a GTS you are fine, if you own an ES or DE, just grab a GTS strut.

If you know why you think you need a stronger one and what it would take with the car to produce the "why", then maybe you will need something better.

Maybe

Have you noticed that you can flex the GTS bar with your hand? Just wondering...

Beefier is always better in this case.

Have you heard of anyone doing such intense driving that they pop their hood after to find their strut bar warped somehow?

Its a matter of people wanting to spend money

No, I never popped the hood and found my bar noticeably deformed. But I'll agree to disagree with you on "waste and want" of buying.

not to go off topic of to strut or not to strut but, i was looking at the RRM front strut bar, and it doesnt "look" right. i like the 3 point design however only attaching to one strut bolt on each side seems like a weak point to me. the factory bar may be "flimsy" but it does wrap all the way around the 3 bolts. IDK just throwing that out there, maybe someone knows why it is designed that way.

it doesn't make a difference that it only bolts up to one point. it does the job of keeping the 2 towers from flexing at all, especially by also mounting up to the center. if you added different ends that mount to all 3 bolts instead of just the one you wouldn't notice a difference because all those 3 bolts go to the same strut.
