Question drums/discs = help?

Okay, I'm confused. Whenever you see a car that has alloy wheels, you always see disc brakes. I would like to upgrade my Lancer ES' 14s to some 17s, however, I dont believe it is possible to have drum brakes with an alloy wheel. Is that correct?

Assuming that is correct, how does one go about installing discs in the rear? How much money/time is involved, and is it really worth fooling around with all of this?

Thanks in advance!

Tony

Actually that is incorrect.
Your 17" wheels will clear your factory rear drum brakes.

You wil be fine with your rear drums. The only problem with drum brakes and alloy rims is that most of them show the drums... big deal. But other than that, your car will work fine without rear discs, but if you feel like blowing another $800, you can do the swap.

How can you possibly think that 17s won't fit when right now you only have 14s, The only issue you could have is the ugly drums we have

Yeah thanks. I wasn't concerned about the 17's fitting, it was how the drums were going to fit? I dont know too much about wheels/tires and how they work together..........so anyways, im thinkin about buying some Enkei's and some 215/40's of some sort.....Austin, Tx is pothole heaven, thanks for all of your help!

The vast majority of Civics have RWD discs, and plenty of Civics have alloy wheels.
