Anyone have em? I want to get them because they are cheaper then the megans and are a good brand. I would like to lower my Lancer about 2 inches.

I have the megans but if I could go and do it all over again, I would have bought Tein. They have alot of support for add ons. Not to say megan is bad, I love them. I just like Tein better for their stuff.

 

I would get the Megans if they were cheaper, I heard speedcorps was supposed to drop the price on them to $750, could be wrong though.

 

Well I have used quite a bit of megans stuff and loved every bit of it. Plan on getting their seats when I get a job again. Its just tein has been in the suspension business for a while and neither system seems to have more to offer out of the box than each other, so I would just say go for the cheaper set.

 

Oh yea I know Megan makes some great products. I just havnt got anything from them yet.

 

Well I can definitely say for a fact that their H-braces are badass and a cheap upgrade to your suspension (I did mine when I bought my coilovers). It withstood the worst beating you can imagine and still held up. I smashed that thing on every rock or piece of concrete I drove over because my car was lowered so much that the brace sat 2 in. off the ground. It only broke when my engine blew and bucked around and hit it. But I have other friends who have bought parts from them and loved it. I look forward to getting some of their evo parts when I go turbo in the future.

 

How you like that OBX adjustable cam gear? I was thinking about getting one. Any gains?

 

Na. Not with the stuff I had before my recent build. I have a few new parts that I havent been able to try out yet. I blew my engine a month and a half ago, got a new one built and in with a P&P head, stage three clutch, 80 shore mounts, and a mirage cam. Was in the process of hooking it all up and hooked a couple plugs up backwards and fried my ECU. So Ive just been sitting here waiting for a new ecu for the last couple weeks which should be here this week, and then after I break the build in, Ill have a good tune put on it which is where the cam gear will come in handy maybe. We'll see, not much point other than show on a SOHC.

I left my cover off. If your looking for good bang for the buck mods that helped a lot, and you can use when you go turbo or if you stay NA, upgrade to a mirage IM and port it, make some stiffened motor mounts so you dont have wheel hop anymore, get some shifter bushings and buy a short shifter (ebay ones are actually really good). I think those should be staple mods for a beginner, not saying you are but I wish those had been my first mods. I got my IM for 65 shipped, or maybe it was less, from car-part.com. Port was free cause I did it myself. The polyurethane from mcmaster carr for the mounts was 35 shipped I think. Ebay short shifter was 25 shipped and the shifter bushings I just made out of washers. So for less than 150 you can have some pretty decent mods that you'll feel made an improvement in a big way IMO. As for the suspension, def recommend a front and rear strut brace, and an H brace as they are cheap and help quite a bit IMO. I mean the H brace is cheap, like 55 bucks. I wouldnt ever touch the cheap ebay strut braces after being spoiled on the RRM ones. You get what you pay for with those.

Edit: Almost forgot. Get a mirage Underdrive pulley off ebay too. They are great quality surprisingly and only cost like 30 bucks. I was wondering why I kept thinking 150 lol. And I did feel a dif with it.

 

Well My Lancer is unfortunately Auto...so the plan is to make it a great looking daily driver while I find a good AWD DSM project.

Where can I find the H brace? And is it difficult to port an Intake Manifold? I would like to do that.

 

Ah sad day. But no its not difficult to port. It just takes quite a bit of time to do it right. I actually have a full write up on how to do a head and an intake manifold on another forum but you would have to join it to view it. I refuse to post it on this forum as there is too much deconstructive criticism that gets spit around in these forums on DIY projects. There is however a good writeup in the How to section of this forum, I just feel its lacking some minor details that I included in mine like how to clean it after you finish porting. They say use soapy water, I say use carb cleaner THEN use soapy water. Now heres the tricky part on this H brace. Ebay actually sells the megan ones without advertising them as such in their descriptions for 20 bucks less than if they were advertised as megan. The one your looking for is red and about 35 dollars before shipping. When you go into it, it doesnt say anything about the brand of the brace anywhere in the listing. However, if you happen to look at other items that the seller is selling, there should be megan stuff in them. I think.

Be careful with the super cheap H braces. they can be a nightmare to fit correctly.
