Autocross

First I have a 2005 oz rally and it's completely stock besides a high performance K&N filter. I'm most likely going to being doing an autocross this March ( this would be my second I've done) and I have $1000 dollar limit for increasing performance. in my class which is H stock. I can have upgraded shocks a catback different wheels, as long as they are the stock size (which is 15'), and whatever tire I want. I know that roadracemotorsports has all of this but I would like to hear some of you suggestions first. The reason I posted it under this thread is because I want to focus on suspension and wheels first. Thanks!

Maybe look into front and rear strut bars.

I hear good things about aftermarket sway bars as well.

I'd say a sway bar and lowering springs to start off with.

Wheels and tires, that'll be the best way to go faster.

Yeah that's what I think I'm going to do. and possibly a front strut if I still have enough.

Strut bars do nothing, save up for a rear sway bar.

For rims the lightest ones that meet the budget are the right ones and they dont have to be new, and then the grippiest tyres you can get.

If the rules allow it, forget the strut bar and get a rear anti roll bar.

Then get a wheel alignment aimed at dialing out understeer, toe @ 0 all around is a good start.
You can get negative camber front & rear easily.

The above should burn $1000.

Why doesn't the strut bar do anything? I am just curious .

Strut bars are chassis stiffeners, they aren't connected to any suspension components and they don't change how the suspension works.

Would it basically just reduce body role?

No to both. Strut bars have nothing to do with the suspension. A sway bar will reduce body roll. A tie bar does nothing as well.

When used with a roll cage strut bars can increase chassis rigidity.
This is not something that you will have to worry about in your current class of auto cross.
The lower tie bar, serves no purpose that you can appreciate.

If the rules allow it, a rear anti sway bar is a performance improvement that you will notice immediately after installation via reduced body roll and understeer.

Road race motor sport's website shows that their sway bar for my car is out of stock so I decided I would bump myself up a class and get tein lowering springs. but I'm going to call tomorrow and see if I can order the sway bar anyways. I'm going to a local guy tomorrow and try and order tires and wheels through him and he'll charge me less. thanks for the info guys! Anybody here in the East TN area?

Lowering springs are a waste of money, they don't help cornering for the most part because the spring rates are not high enough to adjust for the change in roll center so you actually get more body roll. There are shops other than RRM that sells the progress sway bar.
