Question Stabilizer Bar ??

Ok here this my question, what is the difference between the Front Strut stability bar that you can buy from RRM and the one the comes standard on everyone of our Lancers? Maybe I am way off base with this question but maybe some one can set me straight. As you can see below the specs. on the car say that there is a front stabilizer bar that comes stock on the Lancer. So what is the deal?

Body/Suspension/Chassis--------ESMT ES AT LS AT OZ MT OZ AT
Stabilizer Bar (mm., front/rear): 25/NA 25/NA 25/13 25/13 25/13

(Sorry about the formatting it just didn't work how I wished it would.)

the RRM bar is a strut tower brace....goes from the top of one strut to the next. stiffens upper body to prevent body flex and wheel deflection. I think the stabilizer bar is part of the normal suspension set up.

I'm not sure if you are asking about the sway bar (mounts on the bottom of the suspension setup) or the strut bar (mounts on top of struts), but as uranium9v said, the stock Lancer does not come with an upper strut bar. RRM has two models and RMR makes one ($90-150). The lancer does come with lower sway bars (front and rear), but my understanding of the RRM replacements is that they are stiffer than the stock ones. You can ask ROCK (forum member) for details. Hope that helps.

Stabilizers bars tie the bottom half of the car together. Strut bars tie the top half of the car together.

i fyour lookin for an strut bar or sway bar, go with rrm. like the other members said, talk to ROCK, he'll be more than happy to explain to you what you need to know! I personally am in the process of ordering a strut bar, just deciding on which of the two models to get, if someone could help me out, i would appreciate it. otherwise i'll just call rrm and figure it out when i order it. good luck and RRM Rules

Just buy the K-bar, or the more expensive one. It is stiffer and the two connecting points will make the strut towers even more stable, giving you better handling than the single bar. However, if you don't drive too hard, especially around bends, then the single bar will probably be fine. I am going to order the K-bar here shortly, but I also want the rear sway bar. I just don't know which one to buy first. Any suggestions?

If you drive an OZ, you already have a decent rear sway bar, so get the strut bar first, then upgrade the sway bars when you have the money. If you have a different model, I think balancing your car out with sway bars is a good start.

u.s. lancer's don't come with a factory strut bar. 0z's come with a factory rear sway bar, but Road Race sway bar is bigger improving handling. rk, call Road Race, gabriel would help you out. I ended up getting a k bar, it rocks

So...there is a a front sway bar ,and a rear sway bar. then what bar would you use for up front or are the sway bars exactly the same front and back..

Example...
When I drive sometimes i get the back tires on my oz to break loose and sometimes i get the front tires to do this also..will the k bar and the rear sway bar help prevent the body roll.

I find that the body roll causes the inertia of the car to break the tires loose and they squeel really loud...or am I wrong

I have video of this happenning that i will have posted at my web site in 3 days that can be streamed or downloaded and I will link to it if you need a visual example.

thank you

Stiffer springs and suspension goodies will stop body roll. The lower tie bar (the lower sway bar) from RRM will help to by stiffening the linkage in the rear. The front lower sway bar is a little tough to get at which is probably why RRM hasn't offered one. The strut tower bar in front will reduce flex in the front half of the chassis flex between the strut towers hopefully keeping the car more neutral in twisities.
