???Auto Slipping???

OK, to start out with I an Auto. I'm not to sure what’s going on with my car but hers the lay out of what’s happening. This is just like an every day dive, so I'm going along the road and my auto car is in 3rd, I'm doing about 50 accelerating to about 65 . the RPMs get up to about 4000 and is ready to go to 4th well when it dose the RPMs rev up to 4500 then drops down to about 2500 - 3500 were it should be, why I donno? I have never N dropped it or power braked it. The only thing I do that I can think of is that I down shift some times when I'm coming to a stop (you know so I can feel like I have a manual, lol). I don’t think that’s hurting the tarnny b/c most autos are built to down ****, right? I would take it to the Mitsu dealer ship and let them look at it, But I don’t have any cats on so there went the warranty. The Engine mods I have right now are, Intake, header, down pipe, test pipe, and axle back exhaust. Let me know what yall think I should do, I need all the help I can get. Thanks

Manual shifting an auto will wear it down after time, but nothing should be happening yet...since the auto tranny is an adaptive control, reset the ecu and see if that helps...often adaptive trannys will learn something weird and need to be reset....first I've heard it happening on a lancer though...to reset just disconnect your battery for a little while.

I would be willing to bet it's the adaptive transmission. My car will sometimes downshift and take off like a bat out of hell when I only give it partial throttle. Then sometimes you have to really romp on it to get a response. I noticed the car seems to run really quick when it is 70 degrees out.

I know that, but say if I do take to the dealership and they put it on the lift and see what I have done (also seeing no cats) They will more than likely say it's b/c the mods. Then if they do check the tranny, they will probably say there will be a service charge and blah blah blah just stuff I don’t want to hear from Mitsubishi.

OK hers the deal so far, I reset the ECU today and then later on I took it out a test drive. I took it on some back roads (some straight, some curvy) then I took it on the highway, for high speeds. Well every thing was going ok, till I almost got home. To get to the point it's still slipping or whatever it's doing. Also when my car is sitting still in drive it's idling a lil over 500rpms (isn’t that a lil low?) and it feels and sounds like it's fixing stall out? don’t forget though I have an auto? All I can say is

I dont know what to say bro, but you totally made me stick by my motto: "If you want to race and go fast get a bike." I am never doing anything under the engine because of a chance to **** up a brand new car except for show mods. I know it doesnt help your problem but it's something to keep in mind , sorry to hear what's happening, its sucky bro. Hopefully mitsubishi can look at your car and at least tell you what the problem is so you know. Let me know what happens.

You say this and you wonder why you're tranny is hurting? Yes, an auto is supposed to downshift, but only when it's supposed to, not when you feel like moving a lever. Keep it in D, and just come to a stop. The INVECS-II tranny does/will handle the rest.

do you have your old parts? if you do, reinstall the cats exaust manifold ect... the axle back exaust wont be an issue but you may want to reinstall the factory airbox also just to keep stock apperance up for the checkout... I hope you kept the stock parts

It means don't throw the lever anymore when coming to a stop. I've read about the INVECS-II in both the Japanese and American brochures and it's smart enough to realize it must downshift while slowing and one of the better ones that knows how to do it while coming down a hill (according to the big red Diamond Star). As for the slippage, it's a possibilty and with that, you take it to a dealer and have them snoop around. As for your warranty issues, you should know no bolt ons what so ever are going to void your tranny warranty, that is, having read the several warranty threads.

Cool, ok I'm very glad to hear that my warranty is fine for the tranny. Would you recommend that I put the original parts back on or just take it like it is?
