Lightbulb Programming Your Automatic For Better Shifts

I had brought up this topic many times before and as one of the few auto lancer owners on the forums received little response as obviously the lancers on the board are prevalently manuals. For those with automatics this modification will change the way your car drives 110%. With this modification your car will no longer need to be driven 45 mins aggressively to shift high it will be that way from the start. I ask that an admin sticky this since it is a must try modification for auto lancer owners. All credit goes to hardcoretuner and much thanks to him for letting me know about this.
Try at your own risk

go somewhere where u can run through all, ALL the gears in a straight line!!!
unhook your battery for about 10-15 min, i did mine for 30 just to make sure
put it back on
let it idle for 10-15 i did mine for 30 once again to be safe
then get in the car
now is when u pick how hard/rough or slow/smooth you want it to shift you punch it you get the hard/rough setting, gently get it to move and you get the slow/smooth setting
the setting you pick will be the cars main setting, when u start the car it will be in the setting you just picked and won't require driving the car hard to get it to realize that you want to shift hard

mitsu sets it stock with the pedal half way to the floor so the tranny doesn't have to change as much depending on the firmness of shifts you want

1. Disconnect the positive batter lead from the battery.
2. Not necessary, but drain the power from the car by pressing the brakes untill the lights don't work.
3. Have a beer or two. ie wait for about 15 min.
4. Reconnect the battery terminals.
5. Start the car.
6. Let the car idle for a few mins. untill it's stable.
7. Enjoy, burn some rubber.

Any known "side effects" of doing this? I'm interested but with only 4000 miles I don't want to screw up anything.

No side effect...the automatic is meant to do this for more aggressive drivers. If done correctly you should be able to red line 1st, 2nd and 3rd gears before the trans. shifts.

does it have to be on "D" the whole time on your run?? or should you manually shift it L-2-3-D?

You put it into Drive and immediately floor the car and continue flooring it through all the gears. I got up to 115 then let off to do it. Manual shifting is not possible

L=1st gear only
2= 1st and 2nd
3= 1st 2nd and 3rd
D= 1-4 + OD

Manually shifting does nothing but hurt your transmission.

12V yes, but if it discharges through your body that's a good 6000+ amps. current is what does damage not voltage.

how does manually shifting a auto hurt it, i have had two mechanics ( my dad and uncle) say it wont hurt it, only the downshifting into a lower gear causing it to rev high might hurt it, plz explain

hmmm... it's a thought, I know of lots of open roads I could do it on.... I'd want to talk to some more people before doing something like this... doesn't sound like the best thing for my car......

Manually shifting an auto won't do anything other than wear it out faster...just don't do it all the time...
