tranny overworking

ive got an 03 lancer es with auto tranny. recently when i start the car it idles higher around 1500 rpms and wont settle much lower. also when im stopped with my foot on the brake, sometimes more than others, if i release the break the car pulls forward a little more than it normally should on its own with no gas. seems the transmissions is giving power to the wheels when it shouldnt be. any ideas what the problem is and what needs to be fixed? any comments much appreciated.

Did you get that new recall done? Maybe that's causing the problem. Definitaly take it for service if you still have warranty.

That's not a transmission problem. That's an engine/IAC problem.

A recall for auto tranny issues? Did I miss something?

yea the recall i just found out was on the transmission's throwout bearing. dont know if it affects mine...need to do more research. its not under warranty anymore though.

ive taken it to two places though so far and they said it doesnt seem like its a problem but yet it still concerns me.

I'd be really surprised if a TOB issue was causing your car to idle high. If it's only temporary (first 2 min or so after startup) it's probably the normal warmup process. Otherwise, I think your issue is engine/idle air control related, not transmission.

now also...another problem im seeing, whether related or not, is when the car is idle it seems to be running a lot louder. it almost sounds like a bad belt but with a lot more humming sounds, but the belts are new. it does this exceptionally louder when warming up the car, and does it for way too long than it normally should. so far 2 mechanics ive seen said they dont see a problem.

any thoughts now? again, not sure if this is related. hopefully someone may have some insight?

but do you think that really is normal? i mean it sounds like something isnt running how it should be. i mean, the car should be relitively quiet once its warmed up and running, right?

Yes, we have an IAC valve. I worry about telling people to mess with that screw though because, based on what I've read, people tend to make things worse rather than better.
