i think you should just go with a major company, buying from vendors via ebay is always shady, but thats just the way i feel

I totally agree.....its just a major bummer having to shell out 360+ for a clutch and then finding a shop that won't rape me over the install cost.

Just looking at the pictures on Ebay, the 3rd clutch is actually one that looks to be a Lancer specific clutch.

That Throw Out bearing looks exactly like the ones for the 02-03 lancers. The other pictures might be generic but make sure you are getting one with a TOB that looks like the one in picture 3.

On another note...when I changed my clutch I noticed the OEM one was an exedy clutch.

I would suggest buying from somewhere like RRM or Works for both quality and safety reasons. I have the stage 1 Works clutch and its fine, never had a problem with slipping or rough engagement.

That is not entirely true. The 02-03 throw out bearing is not round like that. It has the clutch slave cylinder integrated into it like the clutch in the 3rd link. The green nipple you see on it is where the fluid line is attached to it.

Call Matt at *** imports. I am on my third clutch. I was given a great deal on the ACT with flywheel. He is a good guy to work with. 321-255-5969.

thats not what i was saying. Exedy/Daiken make the stock clutch for the lancer. i've never replaced a clutch myself, but most places post a generic picture, not a model specific one, it doesn't necessarily mean that it is the exact product that is going to be shipped.

Cool...thanks for the help guys. I'm prolly gonna go with either an ACT clutch or a RRM or Works one. Couple quick Q's for yall. Whats the difference between a clutch and a clutch package? I've seen them advertised as both on different sites. Realisticly, how tough would it be for me to change my own clutch. I've got access to a lift and any tool I'll possibly need (gotta love the Army ) but no experience. I'd have a mechanic at the auto shop to walk me through it but it'd be mostly on me if I did it. Good idea or bad idea?

I watched my buddy do my clutch pretty easily. Would I do it. Hell no. But I am no mechanic. I just understand the process, and thats good enough for me. I say, look at your pocket book. I you cant afford it and have patience, then have at it. Otherwise, just pay your dues and have no stress. Ahhh...

Hmmm....being the poor public servant I am, I would rather DIY. But...since I know I'm not a mechanic I'm leaning towards paying to get it done.
