Anyone install clutch themself???
Anyone install clutch themself???
I just turned 80K miles and I will probably be needing a clutch pretty soon. Has anyone installed one by themselves?
What tools were needed? How long did it take?
Any info would be great.

Unless you have access to a lift, I would probably leave that one to a professional shop, or even dealership. Not because it is going to be all that hard, but it will be hard to get to without being able to get under the car with some good room to work... and if they mess anything up, they have to fix it... if you mess anything up, you will have to fix it (which usually means more $$). Just a thought...

considering that you dont even know where to begin, untill you learn more about cars and transmissions, i would just spend the extra cash and get it done right, and in the mean time start reading up on it so you can learn for yourself and not small comments made by a bunch of strangers
but thats just my opinion, a clutch is a major thing when it comes down to it, choose what you do wisely

I've changed a cluth on another car but I was wondering how hard is it to gain access to our clutch...is it about the same because I will be doing mine pretty soon? Also, I dont have a lift but I do have a cherry picker, hopefully that helps out a lil.
If you've done one FWD car, you can probably figure out how to do another. They're all pretty much the same.
Drain tranny fluid, remove axle shafts, disconnect any wiring for trans, disconnect any shifter cables, remove tranny mount(s), unbolt starter, unbolt tranny from block, remove tranny.
I've done several, mostly on DSMs. Some FWD, some AWD, even one RWD and one 4WD truck. All just variations of the same theme.
