Can you make the lacer es,ls, or oz into a awd? i am really curious if you could use the tranny from the awd eclipse or talon for it with some modifying? any ideas besides buying an evo?

Unfortunately it is cash prohibitive to do.. But in Taiwan, Japan, and some other areas, AWD was offered in the standard lancer platform.

FWIW the shared platform that the 2007 Dodge Caliber and Lancer (supposedly worked on for USDM models) Will be available as AWD in the Caliber so I wouldn't see it any different. I have also seen the SRT-4 package based on the caliber, so I think that may be what the new Evolution gets too.

Its possible but the amount of money you will spend you will be better off buying an Evo, infact you can buy a used Evo for much less then the cost of all the parts and it will be built properly and not frankinstined.

Please use the search feature and you will find many threads about this dicussion.

You are obviously going to need a new transmission from either an Evo or Outlander. Then the rear subframe of your car would need modification as well as the gas tank from one of those vehicles.

If it is possible to do this, I could only see doing this if you had a turbo setup.

Don't let them shut you down. A year ago, everybody was bashing on a guy wanting to do an EVO engine swap. He ending up doing it anyway... I also seem to remember somebody doing a big break kit. The same thing happened on that.

If you mean importing it, thats probabally more money than most the people on this board have.

If you mean mitsubishi making a version in the states..Not anytime soon I dont think

I've been dieing to do an AWD conversion on my lancer, since being there are no evolutions in Canada... However as I later found out... the benifits from a tuned AWD against a tuned FWD are pretty much nill.

If you're talking about the Canadian guy, that swap cost him over 10KUSD and the shop took nearly 6 months to do it.

There's a guy with a 4G (?) Mirage who did all the fab himself to make a 4WD 'Rage... IIRC it was a ton of money and a couple hundred hours of fabrication and tuning.
