you can not mess up your tran by shift up in an auto the tran that we have is the same one they have in the sport tronic shifter it is just we dont have that option but if you race you car get a cooler for the trans but you you ecu will learn your shifts and how you want it to shift i teach my ecu everytime i go to the track so when i get ther it is ready but never let your foot off the gas when you shift your auto just shift up my car shifts hard all the time do to the ecu and the cooler on it

^by teaching your ECU, all you do is unattach the negative terminal then re-attach it and drive hard for a tank of gas??? or is there another way...?

disconnect the neg battery cable, press the brake a few times, leave it for 10-15 mins

reconect the battery, start the car up, let it sit idle for 10-15 mins.

Drive it around for 10 mins, don't go over 3K rpm.

I believe its a progressive system, if you drive hard and the car learns to shift high and hard, then you drive softly for a long time, it will eventually change to that driving style, but yeah the fast way is to disconnect the battery, be sure to remember your radio stations...

people are pissing me off with this "your tranny will fall out and then set on fire and explode" thats not true! READ THE MANUAL! its fine to downshift, shift to acellerate, or else why would they design it so the ecu lets that happen, i do it all the time and im at 83k, nothing wierd has happened

You can downshift in an auto I have been doing it pretty much since I got my car and I also have put a cooler on it, I have since learned when the tranny downshifts and at what speeds so if you are going 60mph and put it in 1st it will shift down as you slow down (Around 40 for 2nd and 20 for 1st) just be sure not to have your foot on the brake to hard or else you will jerk the car forward. Also I have over 100k on my car with no ill side effects.

I'm sure there are some out there, but they aren't going to tell you. They are going to blame manufacturer's defect. There are scores of GM cars in the salvage with auto tranny problems stemming from column shifting their auto tranny to never replacing their ATF.

"else why would they design it so the ecu lets that happen, i do it all the time and im at 83k, nothing wierd has happened"

You're not telling the whole truth, misquoting from the owner's manual.

whats not telling the whole truth? how are you to know that 20 miles later your tranny will fall out? Unless you mean like, of all the miles, its never actually failed but you've had issues with it. I havent had issues with mine yet. And with GM cars i wouldn't be surprised.
