I'm thinking something like he was accelerating, then caught some ice, spun the wheels and hit dry pavement again, causing a jar throughout the drivetrain?

That shouldn't cause this kind of damage. I do that almost every day during the winter and my transmission is fine and dandy.

I know someone that hit, got spun around on the freeway, and that caused the tranny to go out... But that was dry pavement.

so .. it was my fault ... of course .. im an ******* ..

pulled the ebrake on the ice and spun...
then put it in gear .. started "burning out" on the ice .. then pulled it again ...

then came to a stop .. and tried puttin it in gear .. and .. basically the shifter was stuck .. then i was messin around with it .. and now it moves ... but everthings loose .. cant get into 1st, i can maneuver it into 2nd .. but it moves around when im in second ... like i can move it with my hand while driving but it doesnt pop outta gear .. but it moves .. its just retarded .. i took it to the shop

well theres your answer. you didnt just slip on some ice you were messing around on the ice and your gearbox jammed. sounds like something got tweaked out of alignment.

Our cars don't have a linkage, we have cables. One thought that comes to mind is to make sure one of your cables didn't come off of the selecters on the tranny. I've have mine snap the cotter pins and pop off plenty of times on really hard shifts.
