mabey im a noob to this but just drain and refill will only get some of the fluid if I remember correctly. You have to flush out the rest. then fill it all back up again... so its basically one in the same?

I read and heard that a "power" flush from say a Jiffy Lube or even the dealership "could" cause issues. So what I did (I'm at 76k on my auto OZ) was I did an oil change and a tranny fluid drain and refill at the same time. BTW, the tranny drain and fill is easier! LOL The Lancer's auto tranny will drain approxiately 4 qts and of course you refill that same amount. Then what I did is just waited until the next oil change and did the same thing...

So what has happened after these two flushes? I'm getting an extra 50-70 miles per tank!!! and I only spent the $$$ on the fluid and no "power" flush. Just a personal experience and doesn't mean that it's the "best" solution; but for the 8 qts of OEM Mitsu fluid (which is the only fluid I'd recommend!!!) it's definitely cheaper and will net you the same results.

70,000 miles is really not considered high mileage. I know max life from Valvoline has ads that say for high mileage cars over 70,000 or somthing like that, however the main consensus is, that is when most cars start to go out of warranty and owners start looking for alternatives to what the dealership offers.
I think the tranny flush is a great idea, this will help remove any deposits and sludge that you have forming in the tranny. I sldo think the tranny is supposed to be serviced much sooner then 70,000.
I dont have an auto so I dont really know. you should have no worries taking that in and getting a flush, it would also be nice for you to keep the records just in case a problem pops up a few yerars down the road so you can prove that you were on top of taking care of the car, also great for showing people if you decide to sell it.

I like your idea of draining 4 qts at every oil change...you got a pic of down under of where that drain plug is for the auto...I need to do the same

how much did the oem tranny fluid set you back at the stealership?

^The bolt is (I believe) fitted for a 3/8th socket wrench, so that's cake and VERY easy to spot w/o the tire being on there.

The Mitsu ATF is at first at dealer cost, cuz a guy quoted me wrong and the parts counter guy felt bad about it. About $4.xx for the first 8qts. Then I decided to do another round of 4 this last oil change, so another 4 qts @ retail of $6.xx...

***But I can tell you this! anyone over 50k with our auto tranny that hasn't flushed their tranny ever, needs to do it! With gas prices the way they are, and to maximize MPG this is the single most effective way to do it... I was getting 220 on a tank; and now about 280. And this is with the combined driving styles of the speed demon (the wife, LOL) and me.
