I jacked up my car on the cross member and the rear engine mount apparently was under some strain so it gave out and now my transmission is slipping could this be because the engine mount gave way? I have a 05 lancer about 28k miles. Please advise, I haven't gotten the mount changed as yet but i'm wondering if the mount could b the reason y the tranny is slipping whenever i try to move the car backward or forward
what do you mean by slipping? As you give the car gas, the rpm's will rise quickly but your speed will remain the same? As if your clutch was slipping?
or do you mean its just not engaging properly?

my check engine light comes on as usual then goes off. when i press the gas the revs build up and the car is barely moving and it happens in any gear i put the car in. its an automatic tranny
Barely moving? or not engaging at all? Do you feel it engage when you go from N to D or R or from R to D? Anything?
First step in auto tranny diagnostics is to check the fluid level!
Did you check the fluid level? An auto trans will not operate correctly without the right amount of fluid in it. Too much and too little are not good things.
It could be as simple as your low on fluid and sucking air.

thats the 1st thing i checked, the fluid level is good. when i put the car in D it goes forward but i have to give the car plenty gas for it to barely move and this happens with every gear i put the car in. it doesn't make sense to me since all other cars i had with transmission problems i would have to put them in L 1st then drive for a little while before i can put it in D. but my car now wont move regardless of the gear i put in it D,R,L nothing works normally
Many cars/trucks actually have pressure sensors that will generate a code if the main pressure is low, but I don't know about mitsu.
Have you heard any whining noises? That would indicate pump problems.
The other side of this is the torque converter. If you have a bad converter then you won't be turning the input shaft enough to cause it to drive.
There are many things it *could* be, pump, plugged filter, torque converter, worn clutches, stuck valve applying the wrong clutches.... and its hard to diagnose over the internet and with no codes its even harder. You might *try* and read the codes or get them read. There are many codes that won't throw on the MIL.
Not to ask a really stupid question, but your parking brake isn't on is it?
If your handy yorself there are a couple things you can do if you want to work on it. You can drop the pan and check the filter/screen (I assume its inside the pan on the mitsu tranny). You can get a pressure gauge and tap into the pressure test port and see what the line pressure is, though I couldn't tell you without a service manual where the port is and what the pressue is supposed to be.
It does sound like you have something going bad thats not going to fix itself, how many miles are on it?
Can you feel it apply the clutches to 'click' into gear at all?
