car not going into gear

well my car isnt going into gear, i go to pull out of my driveway and my car wont go into gear then a few seconds later i loose all clutch pressure in the pedal. i just got off of work and drove it home just fine probably like 45mins. before i tryed to leave out of my driveway. i look under my car ....no fluid or anything. so i roll my car down the drive way and try to put it into gear again....nothing. then i notice some fluid on the ground(a little puddle).so i park it. and then i just went and looked at it again(since its been parked) and there isnt a fluid puddle under the car.(its moved from where the first puddle was)
anyone have any idea what happened? ive already searched but no straight answers, thanks
by the way i drive a 02 lancer oz 5 speed

IIRC the cylinder for the clutch fluid is just the back of the brake fluid reservior--it definitely sounds like you're leaking fluid. are you having braking issues and is the reservior full?

no braking issues and the reservior still has fluid in it. i just looked under my car and fluid seems to be leaking somewhere near were the motor meets the tranny. but its not leaking alot

Try bleeding the lines, maybe you got an air bubble in there.

That's what I'm thinking too.
And guess what. I have 1 for sale too

The fluid that leaked, can you identify it as brake fluid? or Trans fluid? The smell will be a dead give away to know which one it is. Trans fluid as a very distinctive smell.

A picture of where it leaks would be very helpful too.

Either way, I'm thinking you'll have to take the transmission out to get the full story.

If it was a bubble, pumping the clutch would move it down the line and he'd get some pressure in the clutch pedal. And an air bubble wouldn't leave fluid on the ground.

Have you done any transmission work lately? Have you done anything to your car? Have you hit something or is there something that happened that we are not aware of? Beleive me... you want to take care of it before it gets out of hand.

i know that its trans fluid bc i can see where its leaking from, right at the bottom of the trans where the trans meets the engine(its very little leakage)its by some brace that goes from the front of my car to the rear.
i havent done any trans work to my car at all but change the fluid like 6 months ago. i do have intake and coilovers but thats bout it.
also how can i check the slave cyclinder? and if its bad can it cause my trans to leak where it did?
btw my car never leaked anything before this

Its the slave cylinder..you don't need anymore opinions..the puddle and not being able to get it in gear is all you need to diagnose the prob.

The fluid leaks out of the clutch housing. If the slave cylinder leaks, it lets trans fluid transfer from the transmission into the clutch housing, and then the fluid leaks out leaving a puddle under your car.

Look at the attachement.
In green: That's the slave cylinder and tob assembly
In red: That's where the leaks most likely is

This is the kind of thread you'll be posting if you don't take care of it:
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=240301
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=282028

If you wait too long, your clutch will get soaked in trans fluid, and if you wait even longer, your transmission will run dry and you'll mess up some bearings.

If you've never taken out a transmission before, plan for at least a full day of work. In order to change the slave cylinder, you need the transmission out.

cool will do so, but i have another question. i called the mitsu dealer and they quoted me 125.76 for a slave cylinder and tob. they said it was all one piece, is that true(ive never worked on my lancer trans b4 so its all new to me, but ive swapped plenty of honda motors and things before)

i looked at that picture u posted and it seems like its all one assembly but just thought id ask

Yes, the slave cylinder and tob are 1 assembly.
