Clutch replacement prices???

hey im lookin at replacing the clutch on the lancer and went around to a couple places for prices and was wondering if anyone could throw in there two cents.

i was looking at 60000miles and its startin to slip. i wanted to replace it with an OEM the exedy kbf1004 and had some places price it out and i got some hi prices and was wondering if there trying to jip me or if it is really that expensive. the clutch kit comes with plate, disc, tob, and slave cylinder. they said between 7-9 hours of work and the lowest price i got was 1100 to 1300. anyone know y so much... let me know...thanks

That's about right.
But 10-12 hours and you can do it yourself.

yeah...that's a pretty good price considering all the parts and installed. cheapest place i found in cali to install it is $600. plus just buying a new clutch with throwout bearing is a minimum of 500, plus the price of the slave cylinder (because you are getting one in your deal) and all fluids. Sounds pretty good to me.

Is the stage 2 clutch a full face, 6-puck or 4-puck? You also know that any clutch for an 89-94 Eclipse 2.0L DOHC non-turbo fits, right? Look on eBay and you'll find them for just under $300. You still need to use a Lancer throwout bearing, however. I'm running street disc right now and I need to upgrade after upping my boost. My clutch slips sometimes when shifting gears at WOT. I'm gonna be switching mine to an ACT setup of a heavy duty pressure plate and 6-puck disc.

good deal. any work you do on your car figure in at least the same amount for labor as the parts cost you.
I upgraded to the ACT Street Kit, and turbotrix did it for 1300 with a new clutchline

yeah it is a full face. you really dont need much more then that for street use. its a 2600lbs clutch. my friend has a galant vr-4 running 26 psi on the same act clutch. if he doesnt slip, i have faith

7-9 hours sounds really high, my brother in-law installed my clutch and it didn't take him that long (and it only cost me like 300$). I would suggest shopping around and seeing what else it out there. For a clutch I'd recommend the WORKS Stage 1 if you don't plan on heavily modding the car. I think it's cheaper than stock so that's a plus.

My cousin is the head instructor at the local Votec school. Simply charged for parts. I think I ended up spending just under $400.
