Do you have AIM or something that I could talk to you about?

I agree with sl0ev0, if it were an internal issue, it would either sound thrashy or have additional symptoms.
The other thing that comes to mind would be what we call "el tambor de la tranny" (sorry, dont know the direct translation) which is the mechanism that determines when to upshift or downshift, but for the problem to be it, the sympton usually is the car doing erratic gear changes like downshifting and then upshifting suddenly and for no apparent reason.
Hope this helps

Well my car is going in neutral when I was coasting in 4th gear(which is auto's is the highest) so what do you think? Also while I was in 3rd gear it would only be in 2nd gear at the highest. What am I looking for exactly guys? I'm going to take apart the interior around the shifter, but what exactly do I look for, and where is it?

Well, my dad and I just decided to take apart the interior to see what's going on, so we noticed that when the car is off and we're shifting there is a peice that makes a loud buzzing noise, and it's this right here:

However, it'll only make that buzzing noise in the gears that I know for a fact can still be accessed, which is R and 2. In park it won't make a noise, of course, neutral it shouldn't make a noise because it's releasing, but now it's not accessing 3 either. Which would explain why my car wouldn't shift into 3rd gear, and even while I was in the 3 slot, it stayed in 2nd gear. Does anyone know what peice it is that's making the buzzing noise, and if it is even supposed too. My dad said that he thinks it may the synchronizer so I need some input.

You're close to it, in that picture. There is a cable that goes to your shifter and at the other end to a mechanism that goes into the transmission. At the end of the shaft that goes into the transmission is an elongated bolt hole that is designed to allow adjustment. If all your gears work but are one shifter position off, the linkage is simply out of adjustment.

But that's the thing, only second gear is working, I am unable to hit third or fourth gear. I'm going to take a video of what's going on so that people have a better idea of what my car is doing. Although I will try what you're saying though, even though I don't understand how it could happen. This happened right AFTER I got my timing belt changed.

So I'm confused, because I was trying to show my g/f yesterday what was wrong with my car.......and it worked fine. What the heck? Any ideas on why my car is deciding to work now?
sounds like you should just take it to a local sop or someone who specializes in tranny's and have them take a look at it. Im lucky, I have AMS 30 minutes away from me but I would just take it somewhere you can trust and have them diag. the car.
I agree that I don't think it's the tranny. It just sounds like the gear selections are off by one slot. Isn't this all controlled by cable? So maybe the cable is loose or got stretched and either needs to be tightened, adjusted, or replaced.
Could it be your speed sensor? I know my dads car had something similar to this, but it was a Ford, not a mitsu.
Like you are driving and it doesnt kick into gear, it just stays, and revs high. Right?
