Worst Problem EVER!

So.......I was driving down the highway this morning, and as I am driving I had my car in D, and my car starts acting like it's in neutral. So now my gears are as follows:

D= Neutral
3= 2 gears
2= 1 gear
L= didn't even try it

P,R and N are okay they appear to still know their functions. I don't know what to do, I had my timing belt changed yesterday, but that shouldn't have anything to do with my tranny....RIGHt?! help!

I was afraid of that, lol. She's my DD so that's what I'm worried about. I guess I'll just jump ship and get a new car

2002 OZ Rally, no beating on my part, but it was used, so I can't say what she's been through totally. I was just cruising down the highway to meet a friend when all of a sudden she just revved. It's weird because there wasn't even a gear change, ya know. It just happened

I agree, but I just want out of this car now. I have put so much effort and time and money into it. It doesn't even feel worth it.....if I had an evo then I would get a new tranny lol

definately sounds like you need to either rebuild your tranny or visit a few scrap yards to get a new one...

it could just be the shift mechanism that goes from your shifter to your trans. trace the whole mechanism from your shifter to your trans. it could even be that a quarter or something got in the way under the shifter and is messing it up. id definitly check that first.
