RRM said that they have sold a couple of kits for the CVT but none of them are from evom

any of you guys know how much the tranmission cost tho for the CVT?

i would guess around 2gs since on the website the manual and CVT differ by almost 2gs

probably more like 5-7K. The selling price for the car doesn't show the cost for when you need to replace an item individually. Try replacing all the components for the sun&sound package and you will be out more than what the package costs on the car, likely double or triple

3-4Gs I think is the cost to Mitsubishi
expect to pay 5 if you you blow it up. lol unless you make it look like a warranty failure lol

That really sucks considering its only a 1k$ option when you build the car on their website.

yeah that does..

im sure someone out there will blow the CVT at one point..and we'll have an idea of how much power it can hold

ok so check this..i was talking with someone earlier and found this interesting..

the new 2009 Nissian Maxima comes with 290hp and a CVT Transmission. on the forums on that site the guy i was talking with said there are many similarities between ours and the CVT in those. although not the same..if the lancer CVTs are just as strong as the maxima CVTs wouldnt that mean that the tranny could hold safely around 330hp? (not whp) since im sure Nissian isnt going to push the CVT to its limits

that tranny is rated for modsize to large sedans and is capableof holding up to that hp rating. our CVT is smaller rated for 2.5L engines.

If you go to jatco the transmission make i am sure you can pick the two tranny's out of a lineup. they actually have alot of CVT trannys

Yeah, but the Lancer is a smaller car. The stronger tranny is totally unnecessary in mitsu's eyes. Its not like they designed the car around the fact that people would mod them, even though people have been since forever.

The CVT is good for what it is, it helps keep the car efficient, maintains a quite, smooth and comfortable ride, also makes for a nice highway car, but its just not for max power/speed. Sometimes I wish I'd gotten the 5spd, but then I realize this is my DD and I'm always in traffic (and I'm lazy), I'm glad its still auto. Plus the paddle shifters are always fun if you have a GTS.

Once someone figures out the CVT's computer, whenever the hell that may be, we should be able to open it up a bit and push it to it's limit. Hate to sound redundant, but we just need to wait :P

Everyone is going #%^@ a brick once....

Everyone who has a CVT is going to have a field day once someone hacks the CVT controller and allows for gear ratio adjustment, shift response adjustment and rev limiter adjustment.

Currently I have most mods for the 08 CVT and the car runs fantastic. Its not fast but certainly quick. My last focus is on exhaust and CVT control. In particular the shift response between 1st and 2nd followed by the ratio between 2nd, 3rd and 4th.

Im sure in an 09+ 2.4 it only gets better and reaching 190hp / 150whp is an easy target to reach.

WORKS needs to get it in gear and start working on the CVT controller.

Hey all, this is my first post, and my first forum membership... I've had my '08 Lancer ES-GT for a little over a year now... As you can see below, I've done some mods and I'm completely happy with the out come... And I wouldn't have got this far without the help of Road Race Motorsports. I will continue to boast about RRM while I'm finishing my Lancer... Hats off to RRM… Rob, thanks for all your help…

I've been doing a lot of reading, not so much posting... To respond to the thread, heat is the main reason you will have loss of power in any circumstance, highway, road rally, race track etc... Being an Engineer, I would think that Mitsu wouldn’t release a tranny that couldn’t handle at least double the horsepower that it originally gave it… They are known for their Lancer, and many years have gone by that people just like us have upgraded their rides…

I’m confident that RRM will come out with a proven CVT Turbo, and I plan on buying one when done so…

Does anyone know about mod’g your ride without voiding the warranty…? I’ve already have 40k miles on mine, and I’ve only got 30k to go before I feel comfortable in adding mods that in my opinion would void the mfg’g warranty.

Anyone have any input...?

Thanks, you made me feel better. I also agree this CVT can hold 300hp. Mitsubishi wouldnt give this CVT 152hp because thats all it can hold. Always you have to give it more for it to last longer. I plan to turbo my car in a few weeks. I will post up data on the turbo CVT Lancers.

i agree with you for the most part however, i cant agree much on the road race products. imo they make faily decent products but charge almost double than what other companys do..they certainly arent any INJEN,or HKS reputation but the fact that they are charging 5k for the turbo kit for both manual and CVT blows my mind..and i couldnt understand the concept of anyone buying it..for 5k you can walk up to mitsubishi dealership buy an OEM evo X motor with turbo..all internals everything..for 5100..dont believe me?..call your dealer and ask..

granted RRM does make good products and i have 1 or 2 RRM products myself but that is because no one else came out with them at the time..

so im looking into xtreeme boost turbo since they seem to have a more reasonable price... go look at the price of a turbo on your average 4 bangers around the lancer price range and see how ridiculous RRMs products are overpriced

i drive my evo maybe twice a week and due to parents i cant mod it...so the lancer is still my project car and i plan to mod it as a daily but no way im paying 5k for a turbo when i can get a turbo kit for my Si for 2000
