or try switching the shift knob. the oz stock knob is one HEAVY beast, and after i switched to the evo knob, shifting seems MUCH smoother. check it out:

I just replaced the stock OZ knob with a super light weight real leather and real carbon fiber model. I liked it soooo much , I contacted the company I purchased it from and will be selling them VERY soon ! It is tiny and it comes with different inserts to fit about ANY vehicle and it also comes with a piece that you put on before the shfter that the shifter screws into and it gets rid of the gap between shifter and knob. I will get some pics asap. VERY NICE Piece that will likely have less than a $30 price tag !!!

Not trying to be a jerk, but isn't that how most universal shift knobs work? Or are you describing something different from that? Personally, I like the feel and weight balance with my WalMart knob, but I'm sure some will like the faster feel of a light weight knob.

ok well basically i think i get how this whole deal is gonna work out for me. I dont ming shifting but if it looks cool then alright. i was missing third cause the longest shift is from 2nd to 3rd (not counting 4-5) and i usually push in the gas and release clutch before it gets all the way in. also you dont have to find 3rd gear, just push it up to neutral, let go then push up again.. if you havent noticed by now. but yea im getting it better now, it was just cause i was totally out of it that one night, but thanks for all the help and i WILL be buying one sometime soon. thanks again.

Doesn't come with bushings. I ordered some from Energy Suspension about a month ago and was told I would get them in two weeks ??
Brian, I don't know if that's how most work. This was my first knob replacement and it is sweet so I will be offering them soon. Can't beat real leather and real cf for less than $30 !! I'll try to get some pics today.

B&m

On the Evo B&M Shifter Install on the EvoM homepage, it says for 45%, you should cut out a portion of the front of the houseing...
Can our throw be decreased somehow by somesort of modification like that, or for us is it just a 1 Deal thing...?
Anyway, I love my B&M Shifter way better than the stock, its chromier, lower, shorter, and I got it for 10 BUCKS BIOTCH!!!
I cut a shift boot and pulled it down, securing it with a toggle, so now the stick portion of the shifter stands out nice and chrome under the ball, like the Ferrari/Lamborghini Shifter sorta.
Its pimp.

I got the b&m one and before it I was grinding 2nd occasionaly (when at the track/driving spirited) now it's become worse. I guess because it's a shorter shift I think I can move my feet quicker than I should be.

Tell that to the guy who snapped his control arms. But yeah, I don't think there's much risk of the stick breaking in this case. Although design plays a factor in how it works. A shifter should follow the ergonomic path your elbow wants to use when shifting. But most likely, you're right and B&M is a $10 shifter with a $100 name.

The B&M Shifter is nice, I have it on my ES. However, its not gonna fix your problem of missing 3rd (I still do that sometimes, I hear alot of us do ),
it will sit a lil' lower but not really much.
It will feel tighter too (not so sloppy as stock), I think youll like it. I Do, and havent heard anyone else say bad things.
The distance decrease is noticable though, and thats cool

I cant help ya on the price though, I got mine for 10 bucks off a buddy...
