Tranny Fluid

I wanted to do a fluid swap for my trans before winter got here. I have searched online (briefly) but cant find the info I'm looking for. I have a 2009 ES with the CVT and about 40k on the car. Can fluid be bought from Autozone/Pepboys? Or must it be bought from the stealership at 13.50/quart? I have found plenty of info for the EVO, but wasn't sure if it was the same for a regular lancer. Thanks

The 5 speed manual uses 75W-80 oil. As for the CVT it uses Diaqueen CVTF-J1 fluid. So unless u can find that in the store, u gotta go to a dealership.

Alright - trans fluid changed... didn't realize how easy it actually would be. anyways.....

Next question - my service engine light is now on. Could this be due to fresh, new fluid in the trans? The fluid level is right on and I though I remembered reading about this before - something about a sensor in the tranny that monitors the "cleanliness" of the fluid? Any help is appreciated

How does it feel?

Ok im not sure here, but what might happen (if it picks up that its new) is it puts up a service icon so u can confirm it and then u need to reset it. Dont take my word for it though.

Ha! I'm dumb...lol... I cleaned my K&N air filter and forgot to plug the MAF sensor back in. I went to go to the store and the car died immediately after starting. On and off and three times before I opened the hood and realized it. It was the MAF sensor in the code history. All good now - thanks for the quick responses though, M@verik. I appreciate it
