Manny tranny prob.

First i'll give you the prob. in low temps. like -15 and lower. when i let the car sit overnight, i'd have a trans. squeal and when i let out the clutch i'd stall. so i take the car in to be looked at and they told me that the trans. oil was like sludge, and they would change it. mind you i have 7100 miles on this ride. so the desided to put SYNTHEDIC transmission gear oil in it. i just have a few questions. all things being equal, does a syn. trans. oil have performance advantage, like it's engine oil counter part. and has anyone else experianced this transmission problem, also the dealer said whin the tech. let out the clutch, it acted as if it was applying a "load" to the wheels (meaning it would actually move foward).

I just put Redline synthetic oil in my trans since so many forums members here talked about how smooth the shifting was after using it, and I concur! Shifting is much smoother after I added it. It goes into the gate better, and I am able to shift so smoothly now it almost feels like an auto (no jerk). I don't know why yours would be bad after only 7k miles, it's supposed to last at least 30k and I thought when you're in gear and you let the clutch out it's supposed to put a load on the wheels. Or did I read that wrong?

Oh no if i said it like that i was wrong, when i'm NOT in gear it caused the car to jump foward alittle, however i to have noticed a shifting difference with syn. oil in the tranny. it still whines alittle on cold days but i'm going to give it a week to break in the oil.

It shouldn't be jumping forward in neutral. Sounds like a problem for the dealer.

Well, i took the car back, and guess what, the dealership called Mitsubishi headquarters and they told them that my car isn't the only one doing this, HQ knows that the lancer has a tranny prob. in extreme cold conditions. so they fed me the line "your still got a lot of miles to go, IF they find out what's wrong, we'll call you" what kinda crap is that

don't mess with them - start the dispute resolution process... it was given to you with the owner's manual...

they did that to me on my rear window -- it's cloudy... and then the warranty ran out before they "knew what they were supposed to do" It's my fault for not getting involved sooner...

Attorneys could work well too, but they're expensive...
