help! 02 Oz rally clutch or transmission problem?

I just got my 2002 OZ Rally a week ago and i noticed that it grinds when putting in 1st gear when coming to a stop. I have to come to a complete stop and have the clutch alk the way in for it to slide in with no grinds. All the other gears slide in just fine at anytime. The guy i bought it from told me they had recently replaced the clutch with a stage 2 clutch not to long ago. Could this be a clutch problem, transmission, or ???

Syncros are probably shot in 1st gear from someone forcing it into 1st without being at a complete stop.

No, you could replace the syncros if you're comfortable tearing the tranny apart. But I would just come to a stop and put it in first, you could also go to neutral 1st and then 1st gear and see if that helps. But I wouldn't worry about it, as long as you can get it in 1st and it don't keep popping out of gear

If you are still rolling you should be able to use 2nd gear just about anywhere... I never use 1st when slowing down cause it doesn't like to go in or grinds too.

Hey guys, Tyler here. I have the 2003 Lancer OZ Rally and I have a big problem with my transmission. So awhile back (havent driven since) when i was driving when i was backing out of a parking lot, when going into first gear it wouldnt budge and then i couldnt shift in first and second gear so i had to drive home in third and above gears. So basically first and second gear dont work,. but what is weird is when you go from first to second on the shifter when the clutch isnt even engaged it feels like somethings broken and just smoothly goes up and down but all the other gears pop into place and dont budge when the clutch isnt engaged like they are supposed to. so i know it isnt the clutch, and its weird but feels like something is broken with shift cables. PLEASE HELP, thank you!
