Does it work? Curious, are there future plans with this LSD/TC upgrade?

I started the Sportback Saturday. I heard this clunking noise. The Compressor pulley is broken! This noise started when I came home after realizing trans was slipping. The Coil looks overheated from clutch rubbing it. Yeah!

Plans for my Sportback. I am thinking about The DOHC setup. Higher compression, Forged pistions, Built motor.
I use my Sportback for camping, working, Tow hauler. It has been great. When the engine needs refreshing time for upgrades or when I get extra cash?

I haul my 2005 Honda TRX450R
Alba racing, Lonestar XC suspension, Works Triple rate springs, HRC cam, Kibblewhite valves, Jardine RT4 exhaust, Racetech XC shock rebuild, Trailtech Vapor dash, Alba beadlocks, Trailtech alternator and so on.
The trailer and ATV together weigh less than 600 lbs

Hold on a minute, you confused me a bit on that post. You say you spun the pulley right off of your compressor, " after realizing trans was slipping." Not knowing much about transmissions, I thought maybe there was a transmission pulley and compressor. Then, after looking at the pictures I realized I'm looking at the air conditioning compressor pulley and the coil! Now that I can relate to:

Prior to this mishap, I initially solved the popular "clutch not engaging" dilemma by removing the air gap shim from behind the clutch plate and had air conditioning for one year until that solution stopped working and then I replaced the coil. This provided AC for six thousand plus miles until I got back from my trans continental trip across the USA, when the same thing happened to me. Something in my engine start clunking really bad and when I pulled over and popped the hood I smelled burnt rubber and eventually found the air conditioning pulley spun off its welds. I ended up replacing the whole compressor after being towed to the nearest Midas shop.

Is this a common problem?
I just pickup two good ones from the Pic A part. Gallant and Eclipe fit except pully is slightly smaller diameter. I might just mig weld some spots to stentgthen them ? I will post pics during install Monday.

I don't know if it is common but the car is 10 years old so it might be common on a 10 year old compressor.

Here is what I have been driving since Aug when trans started to slip a little.

1982 datsun 280ZX. I rebuilt engine at 250k miles. First rebuild and did because, I had time. nothing broken. 5sp Transmission next year after that. First rebuild. Nothing broken had the time.
I bought this from the original owner in 2001. I have all reciepts since 82'.

I brought this up because. 280k miles and still has original A/C compressor clutch.
I love the Sportback becauce, It can do more.

Here's a list of OEM peripherals that have broken/been replaced since I bought my Sportback Ralliart new in 2004:

1. Serpentine Belt (100k)

2. Tensioner pulley (120k?)

3. Water pump (replaced with rebuilt at 75k and again at 135k, along with timing, multi rib, and balance shaft belt)

3. Lower, low pressure a/c hose (135k)

4. AC Compressor (138k)

5. Radiator (upper flange broke off)

6. Rack and Pinion (145k)

Smile A/C compressor clutch

I pulled this A/C compressor pulley, coil and clutch off a 2002 Galant V6, I mice'd it at the junk yard with the old part and other cars. These parts are all the same except out side diameter of pulley. The Lancer is larger. 2002 Eclipse looks indenticle to the Galant. I installed all this today. The clearance of the clutch is at 0.43mm. Tolerance is 0.3 to 0.5mm.
The last pic shows the clutches. The three center circles have rubber that allows plate to be pulled into pulley. On the old clutch the rubber was so sloppy that is was rubbing the pulley even when not engaged. I set the new tollerance and now I will check it every few monthes. New compressor will be coming. I have 125K miles on the clock.
I bought my Sportback New and I have done all repairs.

The service manual says pull compressor to change clutch. It is very easy to pull clutches while on the car. 10 minutes.

Smile Test Drive

I drove the Sportback today. Runs great!
With the Quiafe the steering dosen't try to self center as much. You have to turn steering back to center after middle of apex. On a left turn the left tire instead of right chirped. Handling is great !
Next time I go offroading I will report how it does.
