Don't know exact numbers on the stock clutch . Something like 1300-1500 pounds. H.p. of new clutch hard to translate. Should handle 250 h.p though.

YellowLancer, do you know if this clutch is a paddle clutch? Paddle clutches are horrible for daily driving, and they have a shorter lifespan in comparison to the stock clutches. Paddle clutches are very noisy when enganging it, will stiffen your pedal, and you'll have to engage it at higher rpms which makes it a nasty experience when driving in stop and go traffic. They do grab extremely well, but they dont tend to last very long (from experience on my celica and my evo 5).

Why not replace the disk for now, cheaper than an uprated clutch. Once you're pushing a certain amount of horses where the clutch really gives up, then I'd suggest a twin plate, probably an exedy twin.

regards,
LEE

Picture shows nonpaddle type disk. Should be good enough for power yet not too much for street. Had 2100-2200lbs clutch in my Eclipse. Performance was better but still not a ***** to drive.

will the RRM upgraded clutch cause problems with my clutch hydraulics, the thrust bearings on the crankshaft in my motor, and of course my left foot?...or is it not that powerful of a clutch

Not true...at least not anymore. I to thought the same thing in the past but sadly no. They support the same flywheel according to RPW but not the clutch. I wonder about the pressure plate now to to... Unfortunate.

A friend of mine managed to install a Mirage clutch disk and pressure plate in his 02 Lancer Rally. He told me the disk and pressure plate are the same but not the thrust bearing.

We have finished our research on the Lancer clutch and can confirm the following information.

The lancer and mirages use the same flywheel.
The Lancer 2.0 uses the mirage clutch disc but also uses a Mivec cover plate which is approximatly 20% heavier on the cover plate than teh standard mirage units.

This means RPW also has clutches for the 2.0 lancer and this is what we would use for both a modified / standard N/A car as well as turbocharged car as well.

We use the standard cover plate - it is already heavy enough but match it to a semi ceramic paddle clutch disc. Because you are using the standard cover plate tension still the clutch will slip like a normal clutch at low speeds and retain teh same lightweight feel on the pedal.
But because it is a semi ceramic clutch disc it is the equivelent of beefing the clutch up by 50% and will handle easily 250hp at the flywheel with no problems.

We have been selling these systems for years now with no side effects or problems.
