i am curious as to what the short shifter actually does i just took my console off to fix the cig lighter thing and noticed that the shifter isnt that long. i could be way off base but some input would be nice.

 

it does exactly what it says . . makes the shift shorter - - it doesnt necessarily make the shifter as a whole shorter (it does a little bit) . . . but rather changes the fulcrum point to produce less travel through the gears . . . (that is why simply cutting down the shifter doesnt denote a true short shifter . . . )
