Help with Tranny
Hey guys I posted a little while ago when my car basically jolted and my CEL came on and my car was stuck in a low gear and I have an automatic tranny, well now the problem started again and it just keeps happening, so I went to get a diagnostic, the error code im getting is PO715, turbine speed sensor A circuitry malfunction, thats the thing tho I dont even have a turbo, so I asked them and they said it might be the Transmission Speed Sensor, now my question is has anyone else had this problem, or the the type of problem as to where they are just driving and their car jolts and gets stuck in gear and the CEL light comes on?
The only thing I can suggest, is to check the connector on the input speed sensor.
It is located on the top of the transmission behind the fluid dipstick and under the air intake. It’s the three pin unit not the bigger 10 pin one. Take a look at the attached photos. Reach in and pull the connector up (by the housing not the wires). If it comes off that’s your problem, it is supposed to be held on by a clip. If it doesn’t come off, the retaining clip is on the back of the connector. Immediately to the rear of the fluid dipstick is a similar connector, the 10 pin one. You can see how the release clip works by looking at this one.
I’ve had a quick look at it and it looks like a pain to access. You may have to remove the front half of the air cleaner box to gain access. Or - try using a long screwdriver to push the clip in.
Pull the connector out and have a look at the pins (in the plug and socket). If they have a white powdery coating, give them a squirt with crc, rp7, wd40 or your favorite water displacement spray. If they look reasonably clean plug the connector back in. They are suppose to be sealed connectors but water may still get in.
If this doesn’t fix your problem it’s either in the rest of the wiring or it’s the sensor. Either way it’s not good news. Get a professional.
Good luck.
