I have a Question about Shifting

I used to use a manual a long time ago, and had no issue getting back into the swing of it after I got my Evo VIII, but Im still having a problem. When I shift, It kind of jolts the car. Im sure its the way Im doing it. Im doing it like this.....
Ill tell you how i shift, and see if you can find my errors, ok?

When I start off, I push the gas 1st to get some power, then slowly let up on the clutch but not all the way, then , once im rollin, ill push the clutch and shift to 2nd, and let up slowly while giving a bit of gas at the same time to try and match the clutch grab and the power from the gas. And its at this point the car jolts, but it jolts just a little, but i want to be able to do this smoothly, but for some reason i cant. And, i do the same thing for going from 2nd to 3rd as well, not so much at all for any other gears above that. Am i giving too much gas? Or too little? Should I let the clutch all the way out faster? Or slower? Not sure how to correct that.

you need to spend more time in rush hour traffic to perfect that skill...

Let the clutch all the way out and don't shift again until the needle hits 7000!

probably the clutch restrictor or whatever its called. you just have to learn to finesse it a bit...

Gears 1-3 will often give you a little bit of a jolt, but if it seems like too much, get on the gas a tad bit earlier when you complete the shift. Just don't do it too early, as your RPMs will jump up and it will just "jolt" into gear again.

Dropthe clutch when you shift...you're feathering too much...too much clutch wear. It's all about the timing of dropping the clutch. Once you get used to it, you'll always drop the clutch in the exact rpm match and you wont' even feel anything.

Got to drop the clutch. The EVO clutch likes to be released and not babied. I even let the clutch all the way out when back up the driveway. It's very hard to stall. Come to think of it, I haven't stalled it yet since purchase in 10/04. Just release the clutch and give it more gas. Power will cure the jerking.

Sounds to me you are letting the clutch out too fast as well. Soon as you feel the clutch grab you can let the cluth out while giving it some gas. You should be able to do this while downshifting too
