First gear shift Thud

I have noticed that sometimes at a red light when I goto put it in first gear it thuds and jolts the car.... Reminds me kinda of my bike when I put it in first gear.... It jolts forward a little... I have a friend with a supra that does it in every gear and i know that is normal for them but what about our cars?

Things happen in my gear box/drivetrain that probablly have no explanation. I guess if it still works its not broken. I find the colder it gets the harder it is to stick it into gear. oh well

Anyone else have a hard time putting it in first gear, with the clutch disengaged, when slowing to a stop sign? It's like the gates to first gear open and shut if you put it in before you stop.

I have been noticing it too. Sometimes it is hard for me to put the car into any gear at a stop. Gonna get that checked out this weekend.

If it's cold out and my car isn't warmed up it is very hard to put into 1st, but I found that double pumping the clutch makes it slide into gear easier than astroglide.

Yea the oil is what 90 weight, so it takes a bit to get warm. Youll notice your clogs are a bit troublesome when cold, especially shifting at lower rpms.

Well it's not a BMW Tranny... those things work like a champ... you can even put them into a forward gear with the clutch pressed in while the car is rolling backwards. Japanese trannys suck. The weak 2nd gear issue has been around since the 1st gen DSM's...

I don't expect to ever make a well built tranny. That's why i am gonna wait till these bad boys depreciate like a **** over the next couple years and then pick up one cheap and play with it as a toy with issues that i will learn to live with... like my current 1st gen GSX

Sometimes i think they intentionally leave issues, just so people can come back with problems... you would always have a customer at a dealership autoshop as long as the car is worth fixing.

You want a cheap fast car... get a EVO/STi... you want a a fast car that is reliable and works like it should... you need to be looking at more of a higher end ride
