when warming up your lancer after a long period of time of not driving it...do you hear a wierd thump coming from the rear end? its loud even when in or out the car you can hear it. has this ever happen to anyone...j/w kuz everytime i warm up my car every morning..after a few minutes theres like this wierd thump. its like if you were to knock on your window..das how it sounds. wierd yo! i0n0 maybe its jus to freakin cold in cali

 

u sure its comin from the rear? u got stick or automatic? what kind of mods do you have?

 

HEY i got that same sound! I know exactly what your talking about, i think its a backfire. Yes, a backfire. Im going to the dealer for that tomarrow. I will post results, if they find anything. It happens ALL THE TIME, so hope they make it go away.

maybe theres a dead animal stuck under your car, that happened to my friend with his dropped accord, there was a cat under his car for like a week until we had to knock it down with a broom

i kinda got knocking sound from my engine every morning....i used 92,89,87..and still heard it so its not because the GAS i use.. nad it only happened when the car is warmingup....its not the loud knocking..its kinda like hum.ur knocking ur windows..but softly

 

i have it to i think it is a pour mufler set up from the factory maybe a lose braket or somthing

Well those jackasses at the dealer didnt hear my car making noise. Oh well, as long as it doesnt leave me stranded on the road.

 

I have a 2002 Lancer ES & I don't hear that noise..........I hear other noises! Like the strange rattling from the engine while I'm curzing along! Like a loose valve or sonething! U ever hear that?

No way, i dont hear that. That sounds kinda serious. If your moving there shouldnt be a noise like somethings loose.

 

How about this noise:
When I warm up my car or even when my car is on there is a loud "CLICK" noise coming from the engine.

I think it happens when the fan belt starts to turn

if this is normal is it supose to be that loud

 

Bury the body, already, or next you'll be noticing this weird smell, especially after it starts to thaw out a bit.
