if you have enough wire run it down to the area where the cig lighter is and tap it into the illum wire there - - im sure its much easier to figure out the wiring down there . . . .

If all else fails, you can find the Tach @ the ECU.

Loosen the three 10mm bolts holding the ECU (its under the glove box) and drop it so it is standing up with the wiring facing the sky. The plug on the far left will have a SOLID BLACK wire that will test AC+ that is concurrent with the TACH in the stock gagues.

i installed my tach about a year ago all i did was hook the positive and negative wire up and used a alligator clip to probe the wires behind the tach to find the right wire, i just clamped the clip down so it would barely pierce the rubber to make contact with the wire inside. it took me about 10 min of probing to find the right one, it has worked great ever since

Green with the white stripe is for power......dont qoute me but I think they use the same color code for most mitsu's and I would just tap the tach into the ECU with some vampire t-splicers you can pick them up for 3 bucks a box at your local auto store
