Well, I brought my car in today.. First of all, today just happened to be the first day in a week and a half that I didn't hear the noise, so there was nothing really they could do, they checked it out and said everything looks fine.. The minute I pull into my driveway, it starts up again! I'm really really really really p*ssed off!!! Then, after my oil change, they washed my car and noticed a nice bulge in my front right tire so I need to get a new tire.. They told me I should take it to a Yokohama dealer in the area and see if they can fix it first.. Fix it? Umm, wouldn't it be easier to just get a new one? And, the only Yokohama dealer in my area is Sears and they are always booked forever.. What a lovely day I had today..

Ive heard the creaking sound when Im in the car...driving or when the car is off just sitting...At first I thought maybe it was just something shifting in the trunk, but it is just a weird dull thump. It kind of sounds like the drum brakes when the shoes are wet or worn they make a odd rubbing sound. My dealership doesnt really like me so I think if I take it in they will tell me nothing is wrong other than the CEL being on.

Update!

Took my car to Sears today and Yokohama said they will warranty the tire and are sending it there from Cali and I should get it within 5 days.. Yay! Finally, something good came out of the deal.. yet, I still have the annoying creaking sound..

OT:I tried to get one of my tires warrantied at National Tire and Battery and they said that it was road hazard damage. They were really rude about it. Thats when I got Falken Zeix on the back...yokos still on the front

Yeah, I was warned that it would either be warrantied or said to be road hazard damage. The roads here are so bad as far as potholes, I thought for sure I was gonna have to pay but lucky for me, it was the actual tire, not my hitting the potholes..

This a little off topic but, I have a creaking noise coming from the driver side front. I just lowered my car and this noise is getting on my nerves. Any suggestions?

I took my car in a few months ago about the horrific creaking noise in my right rear. After several hours this is what they said, "Well, we hear exactly what you hear but we don't know what the problem is. We lubed everything up back there and the noise seemed to go away." True, it did go away for about a day. It's a million times worse with passengers back there, and it's quite annoying. I need to take it to a different dealership and see if they can diagnose it or even fix it. Only problem is, they might say it's my fault since I have lowered the car (but not until after my first visit). This seems to be a common problem with the lancer. Hmmm .

I have that same problem

I have that same problem with my car, only thing is I think it might be a combination of the control arms and chassis flex for me. I have the 2002 OZ dropped 2.5 inches all around, with skunk 2 coilovers, with kyb agx shocks. I get the same noise on the front and the back, my dealership said everything was fine, but the noise still is there, if anyone has a different answer plz let me know, appreciate the help.

The driverside rear on my car creaks like hell sometimes. It is cold in Minnesota and I have been keeping track of it and it only seems to creak on the COLDEST days, like -20 below zero. If it warms up to like 25 it is gone. I have come to the conclusion it is stiff rubber rubbing on the suspension. It is really annoying but I am not concerned as it only happens whe it is super cold.

Hey guys. I'm hearing all the problems. I had them too. Pissed me off to no end. I took it in to the dealership and instantly they said that both rear struts were bad and they replaced them. The creaking is now gone. woo-hoo. I have stock spring/shocks. I hear that the rear shocks have gone bad on too many lancers than mitsu probably wants to admit. Hope this helps. later
