stuck in the rain
whats up guys, ive been havin a problem latly with my 02 lancer es. whenever it rains and for the next few days when i have the heat on, im gettin water into my heater box and its hittin the blower fan and leakin all over the pass. side carpet. now heres the funny part, the blower has to be on, and it only leaks when i make a hard left turn.
ive taken the whole heater box setup apart and dryed it, cleaned out the drains in the vents below the windshield but im still gettin the same problem. ANYONE with a suggestion on what my problem would be, i would appreciate your $0.02 on tryin to fix this.
Thanks,
Pat

na, i have no idea where its comin in, i had the majority of the dash apart the other day after work and i couldnt find where it was comin in. the whole situation is drivin me nuts, only problem ive has w/ it in 55,000miles (knock on wood)
Your evaporator is leaking. I think it's a common problem with Lancers. Check in the troubleshooting section in Us Lancer section. Either it's the evaporator (expensive) or something else (dirt and leaves stuck under that plastic thing below the windshield).
Go to your dealership, they will know for sure!

Summary: debris ( such as leaves, etc ) entering the front cowl area may clog the evaporator housing drain tube. If this occurs, the evaporator housing may fill up with condensation and overflow into the passenger compartment, and into the blower motor.
Few other member had this problem and they got it fixed. It didn't cost much and your dealer can do it for sure. They do know this problem exists and they will fix it.
Believe me I had a similar problem (not the same) and did a lot of research since my warranty is expired and I didn't want to pay someone to fix it.
Midas told me it's evaporator and it's going to be $800 to fix it. I did some research spend $5.00 on a tube of glue and that's about it. But like I said my problem was different.
Do your homework because you don't want to buy a new evaporator for $800.00 and have the same problem.
