Warped rotors

Just a general question but I am wondering if front brake rotors are showing signs of being warped if the wheels shake under braking from higher speeds. (highway) Just a concern since I haven't changed my brakes yet and I am approaching 26K miles. I was at the dealer and had a tire rotation 4K ago but nothing was said about brakes. I have noticed this shaking. I wonder if it is just a wheel alignment I need.

It can mean many things.

Balancing tire. Alignment. Warp rotors. or new brake pads.

You probably need to change the brake pads. I'm surprised your stock lasted that long. If warped rotors, it can be either laved or get a mitsu parts only at 100 bucks for just one.

Rotors won't get warped, unless abuse of the brake pads or going beyond the 30-50K mark.

Are you breaking at high speeds? Could be the rubber break lines expanding/contracting and loosing pressure. If the pads are not squeaking then they may still be good or slightly worn wrong and causing the wobble. My folks had this problem in their Jeep, braking at a certain pressure would cause wobble. It was the Anti-lock breaking system for them.. lets hope it's not that for you.

I had the same problem with my 97 GST. I simply had the service guys in my shop rotate them, and ahhh, no more shaking. Ofcourse, check the pads to make sure there not worn too much. Im no mechanic, but thats what they did to my car.

It does that exact same thing on my car. I think it is the rotors. My car has about 22k & they are mostly freeway miles & I am very easy on the brakes. I think the rotors are just weak on the Lancer personally. I'm gonna try to have the dealer warranty them, but wish me luck because they will just say something like "you were too hard on them, etc".

Stock pads suck. Surprised you got that many miles out of them. I would guess you need pads and turning of the rotors. Give that a try. relatively cheap to do.

i didn't know you had to rotate your rotors. i'm approaching 38k and i've neither changed my brake pads or rotated my rotors. is that bad? no real change in braking, except that it does take a little longer to stop than usual. just a weeeeee bit longer. nothing that seems critical under normal driving conditions.

wow how do you guys get so many miles out of the stock pads, i only got 15k before my pads started squeaking really bad and then i replaced them with the RS4s, but then i do a bit of canyon running too, just didn't think it would make that much of a diffrence. Also i was wondering if anybody knew or could guess how long the carbon kevlar pads should last? thanks
