Kick Pedal Removal

I got a nice big puddle in my car last Wednesday, and I've been trying to get the water out since. Today I made the most progress by pulling the seats out and pulling up as much carpeting as I could. My question is this:

How do you remove the kick pedal?

If I get that out, I can dry out the rest of my car before it starts to smell really bad and before it rains again (thanks hurricanes).

(Trying to think back to my Lancer)

I think the kick pedal has a little pry up piece that hides a bolt. Remove the piece and unbolt. Done.

There is a large, flat headed screw in the kick pedal, but when I tried to unscrew it, it didn't really come out. There is also a kinda rectangular piece that looks like it might come out, but didn't have an obvious location to pry it up. I just don't want to ruin anything getting it out.

The big black thing on the ground just unscrew it with a bit flat head screwdriver and then take out the bolt and that piece will be able to be removed. I had the same problem and make sure your gourmet is in place along the drivers side where all the wires come through at.

Ok, so the big screw will come out. I think I have a larger flat head somewhere around the house.

I'll check the grommet, I'm willing to bet that it came loose and that's where the water is coming in from, because I didn't feel anything wet all around the weather strip around the doors. Thanks for the tip.

Would that cause 2 inches of standing water on the drivers side of the car? Also without driving the car more than 20 feet in two weeks?

I had the same problem because my gourmet was out. If you have trouble getting it back in spray it down with some wd40 and it should pop back in.

the flat square piece can be pried up to reveal the bolt underneath. The flat screw piece is a huge pain to come out but it will....I ended up mangling my and drilling it out...but I got it out.
