I recently got new speakers in my Lancer, with tweeters custom mounted. They just rant he new speaker wire through the rubber boot that holds the rest of the wires in the door, and then ran it back to the trunk, where my crossovers are mounted. The crossovers are mounted in trunk, up under inbetween the 2 rear speakers. I could upload a few pics of my setup if ya want? Maybe you could get a few ideas.. lemme know.

I wouldn't remove the rubber boots in the front doors, just neatly cut a whole in them. If you remove them, you run the risk of water getting in your car, and if nothing else, making it really humid and smelly inside.

As far as mounting new speakers on the rear doors, you'd probably be looking at about 100$ a door at least. They have to cut the door panel, cut the door, and run new wires.
