Factory Shift Indicator?

I just came for the Mechanics where I needed a new alternator. They changed the alternator belt & power steering belt as well. When I drove home there this wierd high pitched sound. Almost like a beep or when you tap squeeky brakes. You hear it just for a second, right around 2-3 rmps during acceleration. I brought it back to the machanic & he said it was just a shift indicator. Like a factory one that you have to adjust. I dunno, factory shift indicator? Anyone know anything about that?

I have never heard that beep and I have had mine for a year now. That's very strange. Myabe it is the belt squeaking? Like, just at 2 or 3,000 it is slipping since it is new or something?

The Check engine light came on later that night, so I went back. It had something to do with the throttle body needing adjustment. The light went out, but I still hear the beep, only much more faint. They also mentioned something about the air/fuel mix being too thin.

Is it like the same beep you hear when you aren't wearing your seatbelt or have a door open?
