depends on what youre doing. It does keep crap from flying up into the engine bay. I made sure i put mine back together when it got pulled down, i dont want some stray rock shooting up in there and messing something up

i hit a dog a while back and it broke a lot the stuff(not hit ran over)...so i jst removed the stock bumper grills and put in a apc aluminum mesh grill insert and ripped the other pieces out...as for the other pieces such as the one under the windsheild wiper container, they startd the drag when driving and i jst cut them off... no problems from it and im in a pretty rural area...

Being as how we are practically neighbors, if you have a cai I would recommend keeping it or getting it replaced if it is destroyed. All it does is help keep dirt and stuff out of your engine compartment, or off your cai if youy have one of those. If you need one contact me, I think I still have the one from my old ES laying around. The one on the drivers side under the fog light cover.

I used to drive around with my splash guard in the trunk.

You'll be fine. It's not like the guard blocked 100% of the splashing water anyways.
